I woke up hungover last Sunday. I tried to find a good brunch place that didn’t have a long wait. I went to 4 different spots but ended up at Denny’s. The wait was just as long as all the other places but I was too hungry to care. I sat and and watched all the people that either chose to work or eat at the Denny’s in Emeryville at 1:45 pm. I also stared at this Reese’s rapper on a bush outside. It had leaves on it making it seem as if someone had been trying to cover up that they had littered.
About 40% of the tables were open and about 75% of those tables had been cleared. 15-20 people were waiting to be seated. The host seemed to be around the age of 18. He didn’t seem to be too motivated at his job as he sluggishly walked around the restaurant looking at the tables, half busing them, and then going back to the podium to put more people on the waiting list or picking up the phone.
Everyone that worked there seemed drained and dismayed. It was probably the end of their shift.
I got seated sooner than some people in front of me because I didn’t have a problem sitting next to the restrooms. I ordered The Lumber Jack Breakfast with an iced coffee and felt like shit afterwards.
I don’t know when I’m going to eat at Denny’s again.
